Unstable Stance

At the core of the exhibition Unstable Stance lies Orit Hofshi’s personal experience, rooted in profound consciousness of existence and survival. The materials of the artworks – wooden boards, large sheets of paper, and stones – serve to create a sequence of associations ranging between real and metaphorical, human and nature, and nature and culture. The colors of the works – black, red, and natural wood – allude in their way to notions of construction and decay, destruction and regrowth. At a time of social distancing, lockdown, and anxiety about the unknown, all of these assume a topical significance and validity.
